Hello and welcome back to a new season at Risborough Rangers Junior Football Club!

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone (parents, coaches, team managers and players) who came to the talk by Deborah Wyatt, FA Grassroots Respect Ambassador.  Deborah was both insightful and inspirational and I think we all learned something from the evening.

Risborough Rangers JFC are tremendously proud to support the FA Respect Campaign and our Fairplay scores for last season demonstrate how we put that into practice.

FA Respect and Fair Play Leagues

What are the Fairplay scores? Wycombe District Council introduced the Fairplay league in 1994 for Under 11 to Under 14 age groups, and to the Under 7's to Under 11's age groups in 2000/2001 season. After each match fixture, each team Manager submits a score card rating the sporting behaviour of the opposing teams’ coaches, players and their supporters.

These scores are totalled throughout the season and winners are announced at the end of the season. These results have nothing to do with the actual match result but are to encourage good pitchside behaviour but also to ensure that everyone continues to enjoy football.

Last season in the South Bucks Mini Soccer Conference (U7s-U10s), our U9s came 2nd out of 36 teams and our U7s came 1st out of 21 teams. In the Booker Wholesale League (U11s – U16s), all our teams did well with the U11s coming 1st in their division, our U15s coming 2nd in their division and our U13s winning the Fairplay Trophy for the highest overall score across all the U13s division.  Congratulations to all involved.

The FA Respect campaign is hugely important and, during the time that your child plays football, you will probably witness some poor pitch side behaviour with either parents barking instructions to their children (sometimes contradicting what the team coach has just asked them to do) or spectators challenging the decision of the referee. Just stop and think what sort of example this sets to our children and then, take a step further and consider what the children think of people like this – their shouting Dad may think he is Alex Ferguson and that he knows what is best for the team but actually he is just embarrassing himself and, more importantly, his child!

As the new Welfare Officer for Risborough Rangers JFC, I am also here to ensure that all of our Managers, Coaches and other helpers are all CRB checked and to co-ordinate all of our ‘Safeguarding Children’ policies to make sure that your children stay healthy and safe whilst playing football at our club.

If anyone has any concerns relating to these issues, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly and I will try to address your concerns.

Please do look at our Code of Conduct pages and also take a look at the FA’s Respect Pages which are full of really helpful information – go to www.thefa.com/Leagues/Respect
